Ginny and Doug invited us to photograph their country wedding at Doug’s family farm just outside Canada’s capital.
It was the ideal place to have a rustic wedding. Ginny and Doug were flawlessly prepared for us to take their photos. They basically did our job for us, arriving “on set” with creative ideas on how we could accomplish the best photos possible. They were so comfortable in front of the camera and embraced every moment as we built on their ideas and vice versa. We especially liked the idea of bringing the vintage couch into the field to take romantic shots.
Ginny and Doug’s creativity and talent do not go unnoticed in their wedding photos. What we especially loved about shooting this wedding was the special contributions made by all the family members to transform the barn into a dream wedding.
Everything was carefully decorated to reflect their style, personalities, heritage, and family values. And as photographers, our aim was to combine Ginny’s strong family bond and Métis heritage with the legacy of Doug’s ancestral farm with a photography style that is a mix of rustic glam and heritage chic.
The charming décor told an unforgettable story. From the centerpieces that Ginny created using lace, spray paint and mason jars to the antique shelf displaying her mother’s homemade raspberry rhubarb jam, it is evident that this was not just a wedding – it was a work of art.
